Three Items to Help Your ‘Google My Business’ Listing Rank Higher by David Johnstone

All businesses want more customers. When a ‘Google My Business' map listing shows prominently in search results, it could trigger more calls and website visits—and that’s the first step to getting more customers.

Below is a list of three things Google is watching. When these happen, your ‘Google My Business’ map listing can become more visible in Google’s search results.

  • How many website clicks did you get in the past seven days?
  • How many calls (call button clicks) did you get in the past seven days?
  • How many reviews did you get in the past seven days?

Seven is the magic number. Notice that all of these are just for the past seven days. Google is constantly adjusting to put the best companies in the three-pack, as the picture shows above. It is clear that you can’t be one of the best if you didn’t have activity in the past seven days. No new fresh activity means you probably didn’t get any new customers. Google will choose another company to be more visible—one that is getting fresh activity.

Where do you check on how many clicks you received? Simply use the INSIGHTS tab in your ‘Google My Business’ dashboard. There you will find lots of helpful information. Not only can you see WHERE people are finding you (in search or directly in Google Maps), you can also see the counts for your website, directions to your location, and calls.

Scroll down on your INSIGHTS page and you can see something like this:

There are drop-down lists where you can see your numbers for a quarter, a month, or a week. If you find you aren’t getting enough website visits or calls, then more needs to be done to improve your map page. Focus on adding photos and videos, as well as asking for more reviews.

More reviews? Generally, people don’t think of leaving reviews all on their own. So, it’s important to ask them to leave one for your business. It helps a lot if you ask every day for someone new to give you a review. Not everyone will do it but keep asking. I get the best results when I ask by texting. A simple text message like this works well: “We would really appreciate a short testimonial on how we did with ____________. You can do it here => https://Review-Me.today.” Fill in the blank with whatever service you just completed for that person. Daily, and consistent, reviews are what you want.

Would you like your own Review-Me.today link to help get reviews? Look for the four Google Review tips I give at https://ShareMe.today. And, when you want additional help to improve your ranking, let me know.
